Postpartum Support

Support for the parts of new parenthood that don't make it onto the greeting cards

A new baby can bring joy and, at the same time, exhaustion, anxiety, identity shifts, or a sadness that catches you off guard. Both can be true, and neither means something is wrong with you as a parent.

Postpartum mood and anxiety changes are common and treatable — not a reflection of how much you love your baby. Therapy offers a space to talk honestly about the adjustment, without performing okay-ness for anyone.

This support is available for the birthing parent and for partners adjusting to the same enormous change from a different angle.

What this can look like

  • Sadness, numbness, or irritability that doesn't match how you thought you'd feel
  • Anxiety about the baby's safety that feels constant or intrusive
  • Grief for your life or identity before the baby
  • Feeling disconnected from the baby, your partner, or yourself
  • Rage or resentment that feels frightening or shameful
  • Exhaustion that feels like more than just "new parent tired"

How therapy can help

  • CBT addresses the anxious thought loops common in the postpartum period.
  • Somatic therapy supports a nervous system running on very little rest.
  • IFS makes room for the mix of love, grief, and resentment new parenthood can bring, without judgment.

Every plan is built around you — modalities are chosen and adjusted together as therapy progresses, not applied as a fixed formula.
